receive top level training from
and become a financial stewardship leader
“The responses we have gotten from pastors, foundation heads and denominational leaders have confirmed to us that we have a training that will make a dynamic difference in the church. I am devoting the remainder of my career to making this experience the premier course on stewardship available to pastors today.”
– J. Clif Christopher
In response to requests of pastors, laity and denominational leaders for a comprehensive training in church giving, we founded The Horizons Academy of Faith and Money. The purpose of this experience is to provide you with the necessary training to confidently and effectively lead your church in financial stewardship.
Think about it. Most of us did not enter into ministry with a passion and a commitment to raise money in order to build ministry. But at the same time, we all know that the money raised provides funds for the life-changing ministry for which we have GREAT passion and commitment. Therefore, we designed the Academy to teach what we believe every person should know about when entering into church leadership. By providing practical training in all areas of financial stewardship, the Academy equips participants to make a dynamic difference in the local church and beyond.
For the Horizons team, the Academy has become an important means of fulfilling our mission of Inspiring Generosity and Growing Disciples. We invite you to come and experience The Horizons Academy of Faith and Money as you seek to inspire generosity and grow disciples in your place of ministry.
Learn from some of the very best thought-leaders on a range of topics and sessions all designed to equip you to be an effective leader in financial stewardship. The following are examples of what you will learn:
Developing a Ministry Budget – Year-Round Generosity – Major Gifts and The Ask – Electronic Giving – Trends in Giving – & many more
The fully stocked guidebook will lead you through each presentation and provide additional notes, tips, and readings to further equip you as a financial leader. Our instructors work in conjunction with the guidebook to provide you with personalized sermon critiques and action plans that are adaptive to your ministry context at home.
Receive hands-on help through a formal time of Q & A with our Horizons staff and denominational partners. If you need to dive deeper, the highly-trained staff of Horizons Stewardship and our denominational partners stand ready to provide the practical strategies needed for success. We intentionally limit the number of attendees to make sure you can receive personal attention and the deeper level of conversation that may be needed during the conference.
So many of us [clergy] feel that we are alone; nobody is experiencing what we’re experiencing. But something like this really gives us a chance to find other people. Frankly, I came because I wanted to see if it was worthwhile, and it is extremely worthwhile.
No pastor should start out in the church without these tools.
I now understand that money is not just something to begrudgingly address each fall, but instead an important part of living out our faith year-round. The academy has changed the way that I will move forward as a leader in matters of stewardship.
Great! I wish I had had this twenty years ago.
The topics were very relevant, clearly presented, and easily applied.
Thank you so much for the well-organized binder of helpful tools, the availability of time with presenters, and the variety of topics and so much more. It was simply wonderful!
Outstanding course! It was well worth it!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your passion to help pastors.
As elders in the United Methodist Church, we’re called to Word, Sacrament, Order and Service. One of those areas which is fairly delinquent in seminary is Order. Something that we are called—ordained—to do, is to order the life of the church. Part of that is teaching a congregation how to order mammon, or ‘stuff.’ It’s part of our job.
The whole event was incredibly upbeat, fun, and productive. Pastors left energized and excited about their newfound knowledge of how to more effectively lead their congregation in this most important area.
