Vice President
John’s mission is empowering communities of faith toward increasing spiritual health and more effective ministry. For eighteen years, John served as a minister in larger congregations (ranging from 500 to 1500 in worship attendance) in Texas, Oklahoma, and Michigan. His local church ministry concentrated on five areas over the years; equipping leaders, adult spiritual formation, small group ministry, ministry infrastructure development, and stewardship.
As a ministry strategist, John coaches and equips leaders seeking to revitalize their congregations to make a Kingdom difference in their communities. Over the past 17 years, John has coached and consulted with over 180 congregations, judicatory groups, and other organizations on a variety of projects. He has worked in a wide variety of non-denominational, and denominational settings including United Church of Christ, United Methodist Church, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Episcopal Church, Lutheran Church (ELCA), Church of Christ, and Presbyterian Church (PCUSA). He has facilitated retreats and workshops around the country on a variety of topics. John’s consulting focus is capital campaigns, leadership and ministry team development, and diagnostic-based congregational interventions. His functional experience as a practitioner helps congregations “jump-start” renewal and chart a course toward increasing faithfulness.
John earned his master’s degree from Abilene Christian University. He has written for several leadership publications and organizations, and his book “Gaining Traction: Field Guide for Leadership Teams” was published by Chalice Press.
